Rapids News · JR Wrestling opens their 2021 Winter season with strong showing!!

Report from Coach Turner on the opening meet on Wednesday:

Last night, the JRHS wrestling team traveled to Midlothian High School to meet the Trojans of Midlothian and the Cavilers of Clover Hill in our first smackdown of the season.  As many may have guessed, covid 19 has significantly impacted wrestling participation so the traditional dual meet format was altered slightly.  There were no team winners or losers, but lots of great individual wrestling.

Bringing home victories for the Rapids were freshmen wrestlers, Caleb Haney (106) and Joey Tucker (HWT) as well as Junior wrestler Jaden Sarpong (220).
Sophomores Sam Deyerle (126) and Steven Braga (170) both had tough matches but represented our school well never the less.
Please take a moment to congratulate these young men on their continuous dedication to the sport of wrestling and JRHS.

Next week we travel to Powhatan High School for more grappling action.
