James River Swimming made several statements this past weekend in both individual and relay events. The four girls pictured (from bottom left clockwise – Caroline Sheble, Grace Sheble, Morgan Burton and Sydney Branch) swam to a second place in the 400FR Relay and a fourth place in the 200 Medley Relay, while each individual made finals in one of their events.
Headlining those individuals was Grace Sheble who broke the VA state record in the 200IM with a time of 1:57.03 (note this is also GMU’s pool record). You can see that swim here. Grace also finished second in the 100 BR to a state record setter.
Caroline Sheble finished 3rd in the 100 FL in a race where the winner broke the National Public High School record. Caroline also finished fourth in the prelims of the 500FR, but a back injury prevented her from competing in the finals.
Morgan Burton finished 5th in the 200FR and she finished 7th in the 100FR.
Sydney Branch finished 15th in the 500FR and 16th in the 200FR.
On the boys side, for the first time they took a relay to state competition – the 400 FR Relay (Schreck, Kryzson, Brunetti, Zimmer). Jack McCann finished 11th in the 100 BR with a time of 58.50. Johnathan Zimmer swam a personal best in the 100 BR with a 1:00.22. Zack Hoffman swam to 15th in the 50FR and 100FL. Xander Schreck also represented JRHS in the 500FR placing 17th.
