The Rapids opened their season at York High School. The Rapids took first place last year and were looking to defend their title. The Rapids fell to St. Mary’s in the opening round by a score of 33-41. St. Mary’s went on to win the tournament. The Rapids bounced back winning the next four. The Rapids beat Deep Creek, Smithfield, Brookville, and Woodside. Key performers were: Max Mellor, Tristan Walls, and Mackenzie Shaffner who went 4-1. A special shout out goes to freshman Jacob Neighbors who went 3-2 in his varsity debut. Every Rapid was able to get at least one win. The Rapids ended up taking 3rd place. Coach Riley was pleased with the performance while also recognizing that the team still has a long way to go. The Rapids have a busy week ahead of them as they travel to Powhatan on Wednesday and head to Maryland on Friday for the 17th Annual Mad Mats Tournament at Magruder High School.
