Monacan High School
James River High School
The Rapids drew 0-0 with Monacan last night in what was an impressive showing by the team, but unfortunately could not break the tie with a goal. The Rapids recorded close to 30 shots on the night and reached close to double digits in corners. Lindsey Munyak hit the post in the second half after multiple attempts on goal from fast breaks and well played balls in behind Monacan’s back line. The opposing goalkeeper had 19 saves and was the hero on the night on the field for Monacan. The Rapids did not have luck on their side when it came down to the officiating in the dying moments. A goal was disallowed after Emily Crocco got her foot on the ball in a scramble in the box to put it in the net. The referees believed the keeper had possession of it and did not allow the goal to count. Abby Rieck recorded her second straight shutout and will look to continue that streak next week.
The Rapids are off on Thursday due to the Jefferson Cup Showcase many of them will be competing in over the weekend. They will return home next Wednesday to face Douglas Freeman at 5:30 and 7:00. Let’s go Rapids!
