Game Recap

Last night the #Rapids travelled to Maggie Walker Governors School for our first friendly of the 2017 season.

The JV girls won 3-0 with goals from Olivia Montemurro (2) and Lauren Ott. It was an impressive win after arriving late to the field due to traffic and not being able to get a good warmup in before the game. For the first time plying together in a competitive environment, the girls combined well and were able to find the net.

The Varsity girls won 7-1 after opening the gates quickly and going up 3-0 within 15 minutes. Early goals were scored by Lindsey Keith, Amanda Arnone, and Kiersten Hening. MWGS was able to pull one back before half on a penalty but the Rapids were the dominant team for the majority of the half. The second half saw some early pressure from MWGS but as the half wore on, the Rapids regained control and eventually put away four more goals to make the final 7-1. Lindsey Keith and Amanda Arnone each found their second goal late in the game. Senior Lindsey Manning scored twice in the second half to secure the early season win for the Rapids.

Next week we travel to St. Catherine’s for our last friendly before our regular season opener at Hanover on March 17th!
