Game Recap

Last night’s victory was no easy feat! Douglas Freeman was a very talented side and the game was back and forth for the majority of the game. The Rapids held a higher number of good scoring opportunities compared to Freeman, but the game was an evenly contested one and a well earned win for the Rapids!

The Rapids had a patchy first few minutes with some scares from Freeman’s creative threat, but were able to shake off the rust quickly. After settling in and grabbing hold of the game, junior defender Emily Crocco opened up the night with an early goal from a corner kick by Meghan Siedlecki. A perfectly placed ball from Siedlecki to a rushing Crocco led the header to be placed into the side netting for a wonderful opening goal. A few minutes later, freshman forward Amanda Arnone was able to slip a beautiful pass into space for sophomore forward Lindsey Keith who scored with a cheeky lift over the diving keeper. 2-0 Rapids early on!

As the half went on, the individual battles continued all over the field and it was going to be a fight to finish out the half. Freeman got their goal on a quick counter attack after one of our attacking corner kicks backfired on the team very quickly. An unlucky deflection from the shot led to the goal which made it 2-1.

The score remained that way until the end of the game as the Rapids successfully closed out the game in good fashion.

We face Manchester away tonight to close out the week! Go Rapids!
